Astronomy and Astrophysics Research and Development Department under the ESSTI is organizing a virtual tutorial in the introduction to radio astronomy to be carried out on Wednesday 12 of January 2022, from 9:30 to 13:30 East African Time.

The tutorial will be given in two parts. Part 1 will be theoretical giving fundamentals of radio astronomy, including basics of physics of radio emission mechanism and radio telescope fundamentals. On the other side, part 2 of the tutorial will be practical and will focus on single-dish data processing, using as an example data from HartRAO 26m telescope that is located in South Africa. The training has been organized by Prof. Mirjana Povic, and will be given by Prof. James Chibueze from the North-West University in South Arica.
